At Mocek Spine, we’re dedicated to finding the best treatments for our patients, so we’re always looking into the newest technologies and treatments available. We’re excited to announce that Mocek Spine now offers the new VIA DISC treatment to help relieve clients of lower back pain.

What is VIA DISC Treatment?

VIA DISC treatment is a procedure that allows doctors to inject disc cells into the lower back to repair degenerative discs. The injected disc cells are an allogeneic disc material that tricks damaged discs into repairing themselves. Clinical trials show that this non-surgical procedure not only repairs degenerative disc damage but also improves function and relieves back pain.

The procedure is minimally invasive, requiring a 20-gauge needle for disc access. During the procedure, doctors may provide local anesthesia or moderate sedation so clients don’t feel the insertion of the needle.

After the post-injection of the disc cells, patients get a small bandage over the injection site and may experience mild soreness at the injection site. While clients often feel great after the procedure, it is best to limit physical or strenuous activity for at least 72 hours, but otherwise, clients can return to regular daily activities.

Is VIA DISC Treatment Right for Me?

VIA DISC treatment is not a cure-all for everyone with low back pain. It’s primarily to help individuals with degenerative disc disease or disc-related pain. You may be a viable candidate for this treatment if:

  • You experience low back pain while sitting or standing.
  • Your back hurts when you bend forward.
  • You feel pain in your back when you lift both legs toward your abdomen while lying down on your back.

If you’re experiencing any of these signs or symptoms, talk to your doctor about VIA DISC treatment to evaluate if you’re a good candidate for the procedure.
